MOM’S CRUISE STOLE
I kept making stupid mistakes, the same stupid mistakes, on Mom’s stole. So, out of necessity, I am taking a break from it for atleast a couple of days. That way I can go back to it with fresher eyes.
MOLL FLANDERS
I have decided what my KTC’s “Moll Flanders” project will be. Naturally it’s lace, and it’s something I had planned on making anyway. I am using the violet Zephyr 50/50% wool/silk lace weight and making the “Adamas Shawl” from Knit Picks dot com.
Purple was once considered the color of wealth and power because of the fact that dyes were rare and therefore extremely expencive. It has long been considered the color of the “akasa” or dream/spirit rhealms, of spirituality, of royalty, and the like. (Besides it’s my favorite color!)
Moll longed for wealth and the power and security that it brings. Due to her onetime proffession, and the fact that she became a lady, she deserves lace.
From the pattern sheet for the shawl: ” ‘Adamas’ is Greek meaning indomitable or untamable. This name was given to diamonds because of their ability to scratch anything, while not being scratched themselves…” if this doesn’t discribe Moll Flanders, well then nothing else does!
So there it is, my “Moll Flanders” KTC project and the reasons why.
