Today my mother ran me around so that I could apply for low income appartments, by the way none were open right now. Between appointments we stopped in the LYS to get out of the heat. Okay, I wanted to give them an update on dh and smell the yarn “fumes” for awhile even if I couldn’t affors to purchase anything.
In the $2 each discontinued sales basket I did find a ball of sock yarn in a funky green color that would be great for socks for dgd. Fran the fabulous, aka the shop owner, gave me the ball of yarn! Then as we were leaving my mom was looking at the bags of loose tea that were on sale, and yup….Fran gave it to her! (Upon further thought, and the realization that my dad would refuse to drink anything other than common orange pekoe tea, mom gave the tea me.) So to the right is the day’s bootie, free gifted bootie at that!
I am in the “Sexy Knitters Club” (button to right in sidebar), and we are about to start a KAL for “Tempting II” {found at knitty dot com in the archives}. I cannot afford the called for yarn, and to be honest I cannot afford to be purchasing that much yarn right now anyway. I am thinking about whether or not Red Heart’s ‘Plush’ yarn would work. I already have enought of that in black to do the sweater, I am just not sure whether or not it would work. If you have any ideas on this subject please let me know.

This is such a cool thing so be sure and check them out ASAP by clicking either the above link or the same link in my sidebar.
I am willing to swap for yarn, knitting magazines, knitting pattern books/pamphlets, knitting notions, and Rosary making supplies. I will do what I can (within reason and budget) to swap whatever I can.
DH Update
Well on tuesday dh had the skin graft surgery. Today the plastic surgeon came in and checked the graft. Good news, the skin graft is taking 100% and is doing great! We haven’t heard anything about a release date yet, but dh and I are hoping that it’ll be on or by the 27th of this month!!!

Clothes for Crisis
I joined the yahoo group, Clothes For Crisis (button in sidebar). I took Erchin with me to Hobby Lobby during my last hospital visit and purchased the cotton yarn for this just yesturday. Anyway, I finished this washcloth (my first for Clothes for Crisis cloth!) in less than 12 hours of seldom knitting! Yippie! There is enough yarn left in the ball to maybe make another one. I also got a second ball of
yarn in a differant colorway to make more washclothes, and a ball of cotton/micro-fiber yarn to make some with. First trip to HL I had gotten some acrylic fingering weight that looks like it might work for a couple of clothes as well.
This is Erchin at the bus stop waiting for the bus to take us back to the hospital yesturday after our shopping trip at Hobby Lobby. He was such a trouper and so well behaved at the hospital that I just had to brag on him!
Mom & Dad
Mom and Dad are back on dryland from their cruise. They are still in Florida and won’t fly back until sunday, then drive back to town late that night. I have lots to try to get done in hopes of being able to go back to hospital sometime midweek next week. Wish me luck!
I called hubby this evening. He practically begged me to try and come up tomorrow instead of waiting until tuesday! He also said it was ok to bring Erchin and have him stay in the room (we’ll see about that!). Oh man alive, it’s the closest he’ll ever come to saying “I need you here”…gotta love him!
So I called my aunt and arranged for her to take us in tomorrow instead of tuesday. I told hubby that I knew I could stay until atleast wednesday, I’d have to see if I could take Erchin being at the hospital with me before I could promise anything more than that.
Anticipaion…it may keep some waiting but it’s driving me nuts! Waiting for dh’s surgery on tuesday is ragging on the remains of my frayed nerves, no ‘whole’ nerves are left at this point. As hard as I tried, as long as I tried, and as whole-heartedly as I worked at not doing it, I still found myself crying myself to sleep last night! I can hardly wait until my dh and best friend, for his that, is all better and can come home to me. Until he can, I am afraid that y’all will subjected lots of whining on my part. And for that I am NOT the least bit sorry!
My aunt will give me and Erchin a ride into the hospital on tuesday morning. She will drop us off then come back on wednesday sometime to give us ride back home. My folks left my mom’s car at their house and the keys with my aunt for just such a thing. I only wish that I had someone who could watch Erchin for me tuesday night so that I could stay in the room with my dh that night. Alas, it just doesn’t look like that’ll happen. Ugh.

I am working on my “Wuthering Heights” project for ‘Knit the Classics’ (check them out by using the button in my sidebar). It’s a triangular shawl of my own design. It starts at the center top and works down and out. No fancy stitching, just a simple garter stitch. Yup, effortless and mindless knit every row, not having to stop and think sort of knitting here. It’s just what I need at this point, knitting without the unwanted distraction of having to think about it!
I found a number of online sources for free books. Ok, so if they are in the public domain, nolonger under copyright protection, in the United States (not sure about the laws in other countries, so check them out if you live elsewhere!), you can print them out for “free”. True, often times it’ll be cheaper to go out and just buy the book than it is to buy the ink cartridge for the printer and the paper and the page protectors and the notebook, but what can I say….it’s “FREE”. I’d post the links, but there are so many of them. Just google “free classic ebooks” and you’ll get a ton of links that you can use.
Last night I talked to hubby and he had some good news. His next surgery, the one for the skin graft to close the wound, is scheduled for this coming Tuesday! Yippie!
I am nearly finished with dh’s bed socks. I want to get them finished to take with me tuesday for him to be able to wear in bed as apposed to the horrible hospital ones they gave hime to wear.
I joined “Clothes for Crisis”. See their button in the sidebar (which I’ll get posted as soon as I am done with this post) and check them out.

My hubby has a no. of tatoo’s that he got years before we ever met. With all that’s transpired as of late, I got to thinking just which one was realy my favorite. This is it. It is a seagull that is on his right shin. I decided when the spider thing began happening that if he should pass, I would get this tat done. But instead of getting on my right shin, I’d get it on my left shoulder blade. That way hubby would forever be looking over my shoulder! (Thank God that this did NOT come to be!)
I am home for now. More of an update after I can get rid of this migrainne.
My folks are still going out of town this friday on vacation. Tomorrow I go back home to stay, ugh, until they get back. My folks are going to leave my mom’s car at their house and the keys with my Aunt Charlotte. If they call me to tell about dh’s last surgery, or call to let me know that he’s going to be able to go while folks are away, then my aunt can get me back up here. I will give a proper update when I get home.
Thing To Do ASAP
1.apply for low-income appartment in town over
2.mail electric bill payment
3.pack to move
4.get rid of *crap* that I don’t want bad enough to pack and move
5.try no to fall apart ’cause i can’t be with dh

DH continues to improve healthwise. Not fast enough to suit him, mind you, but much faster than he was originally expected too. He has developed what alot of times the nurses reffer too as “hospital-itus”, where a patient has been in the hospital a long time and faces the possibility of an even longer stay. I’ll save you from the blow by blow of it all, but suffice it to say that he goes into anger fits and sometimes (well, okay mostly) they are unjustified from anyone else’s viewpoint. {Don’t get me wrong, I do understand where it all comes from….just frequently it’s a bit much to handle!}
Tuesday dh had the first of two plastic surgeries. This one they tacked-down the two deep tissue pockets that had been created when infected/dead tissue had been removed. If he continues to heal at his current/previous rate, and there is no reason to suspect otherwise, he’ll be able to have the skin graft in another 7 to 8 days from today. He is still saying that he wants to come home then, he thinks that the additional time is just the doctors’ and hospital’s way of maxing-out the insurance. It’s actually for physical therapy and making sure that he is healing properly, but ofcourse he knows everything and the rest of us know nothing….MEN!
My parents go on vaccation next week. Yup, they are still going knowing that it will force me to stay home during dh’s next surgery, possibly strand dh at hospital maybe without a ride home when he leaves the hospital, and no they would never even consider leaving if it were my brother and his spouse going threw this! Can you guess, I am just a bit peaved and yes I know alot of folks think I am being selfish…..so frigging what! Anyway, my grandmother (in Texas) goes to her doctor on monday and will see if her doctor will let her travel and stay here for a couple of weeks. If grandma can come she’ll stay at my parents’ home with Erchin so that I can be at hospital with dh.
I am desperate.
Today ds and I walked to Post Office to get mail, cash check, then I had planned to pay bills but it began to poor down rain so we came home.
At the post office I made the most marvelous discovery, my sp8 pal had sent me the most wonderful package of goodies!!!

There is two big balls (100 grams) of Opal sock yarn. (Pal how the begeevers did you guess that I have wanted to try Opal sock yarn?) I am not entirely sure what the names of the colorways are as the labels are in German (I think). But the greenish one is just perfect for making dh a pair of socks…thanks! She also had two 50 gram balls of Lana Grossa Meilenium Cotton Fun yarn in a beautiful purpley blend, another yarn I have wanted to try for a long time now! There was also a bag of Salt Water Taffy, yum yum yum; a roll of Spree candies, chewy; Starburst fruit chews, Baja California flavors; and a bag of Jelly Belly jelly beans, my favorite jelly beans. There was a book, “Knitting Vintage Socks” by Nancy Bush. (Love this book, it’s just soooo cool!).

Then there was the cutest felted pin cushion that she designed herself in honor of recent events with dh, you can figure the connection out yourself….lol! The little tag on the spider’s neck….”For Anger Management!” Aint she just the bestest…….yup I am spoiled fur shuerrrrrrrrrr!!!!!
I have been home since last evening and still have gotten virtually no sleep! I owe you an update on dh and I’ll get to it…after a nap.
