Because I am traveling to Tennessee with my parents in early May to attend my oldest son’s (Art Boy’s) colloge graduation, and therefore will see him and dil and dgd, I have decided to save money and not send Christmas pressies. Instead I’ll be taking them with me. I know they’ll be several months late, but they’ll get there. I can use the money for spending money on the trip instead! Since dgd’s third birthday is in July, I’ve already gotten started on a few little birthday gifts for her. Here are just a few.
This is a Jingle Bell Bracelette, crocheted, being displayed by my special buddy 2007 St. Valentine’s Sponge Bob Square Pants. On the left the bracelette is closed around the top of the pitchfork. On the right the bracelette is open and laying down along the length of the pitchfork. It is small as it’s the size to fit a soon to be three year old “Princess of Quite Alot”, aka my grand daughter.

This lap coverlette was inspired by the January book for my KTC group, and was my project for this month. It is also going to ultimately go to my grand daughter. It is a combination of two differant Victorian era patterns–the square coverlette, and the lacey bourder. The yarn I used was deffinately a modern sythetic–Red Heart’s Symphany in three differant colors (sorry, but I’ve already thrown away the labels or I’d tell you the color names/numbers). Anyway, the colors are a soft pale green, soft pale blue, and what appears black in this picture is actually a dark heathery blue. I misplaced the size H (US) hook for a few hours, or I’d have been done in alot less than the 48 hours.
I talked to Art Boy tonight. He said he just wanted me there in May and that he wasn’t worried or concerned about gifts. Well I know this is a fact, but I am concerned. I want to make my grand daughter just as many things as I can both afford to, and can make well with the time and money that I have left to do them in. I have fuscia and hot pink acrylic yarns, so I am thinking maybe a few more coverlettes……maybe, who knows.

You are very creative. My wife started a quilt for my daughter when she was three . Now we are living with my daughter and the quilt isn’t finished yet.

LOL, Dr. John — I was going to say something similar. I started a blanket for my brothers 37th birthday. He’s 56 and it’s still half finished in my drawer.

I started a quilt for youngest son when I was preggers with him it remains unfinished as a quilt top, he’ll be 17 in July. I started a quilt when I found out I was going to be a grand mother, it has been in the nearly finished binding stage for nearly 3 years now, grand daughter will be 3 in July. I won’t mention the quilt blocks for mom and dad’s quilt, 7 years; or any of my other “UFO’s” (un finished objects) as denial can be a blessing at these times!
