I have just somewhere around 56 hours until my appointment with the oncologist on Saturday. My nerves, don’t my family and local friends, but the nerves are shot to hell or gone! But if I hear another “it’ll be fine, quit worrying so much”….well I know it’ll fine but I can’t help but worry at this point in time, I’m sorry.
I did go to the American Cancer Society website tonight. I checked out some things about my type of uterine cancer. They have this realy cool survey questionairre you fill out that helped me alot. It gives you a general idea of the average treatments that might be used, possible side effects, and suggested questions to ask your doctor. So I started a list of questions for saturday. I will rewrite my questions, add more, and rewrite them again before saturday. I may even rewrite them in my journal and include both the questions and their answers in my journal. It’s a thought.
I am participating in the current socks KAL for the Friendly Socks group that I am in. I was overthinking, and thus over-complicating, the heel flap pattern for the sock yesturday. The sock’s designer, who is unknow to us as the KAL hostess is posting the pattern to the list in bits and pieces, call the heel flap pattern “Eye of Partridge Heel”. I know that heel pattern as “Boot Stitch Heel”. Once I realized that, after disengaging my brain from over-thinking the pattern, I did fine. If y’all knit socks and aren’t a member of the friendly socks groups, check us out by clicking the link bellow.

Anyway, my Aunt Irma (who doesn’t go online, and even if she does won’t be reading my blog!) is going to get the afore mentioned KAL socks. She is giving me a 140 mile round trip to the oncologist’s appointment this saturday, and she went with me when me doctor told me I had endometrial cancer. My aunt’s birthday is August 30th, so the socks are a both a Thank You and a early Birthday gift. (Especially if the rest of the pattern gets posted by tomorrow so I have a chance to finish the socks by the time we get back from the doctor’s office on saturday!)
I am also knitting a pair of socks for my mother using the KAL pattern. My aunt’s socks are from a bright multi colored yarn, and mother’s are from a solid dark blue color yarn. My aunt is only likely to wear her socks as house or bed socks, if she wears them more than once that is. Where as my mother is likely to wear her’s to work if they fit her well. So I choose the yarn for mom’s socks to go with her Walmart blue work shirt. My aunt’s socks are also just crew socks, where as mom’s will be longer so that she can fold the cuff down like she likes to do.
My dh did something realy sweet for me the other. He seen a posture correct comfort pillow on tv on QVC and ordered it for me (well he had me call the order in and he paid for it)!!! The pillow, with the shipping and handling, came to nearly $37, and should be by this time next week. He said I would need it to get good rest especially after I start radiation treatments! He likes to come across as a “tough nut”, but deep inside he’s a mushy bear!
