Happy Hollerdazed!!!!

Well my Christmas, yes I celebrate Christmas no offence taken if you don’t, went off rather pleasantly. Christmas Eve day my youngest son, Erchin, and I went on over to my parents’ home. Later that night, around 9pm or so, my Uncle and his wife, along with my grandma, arrived. That evening I allowed Erchin to open one present, of my choosing, and the rest of us waited. Christmas day my Uncle and his wife opend the present I got for them, at my insistance, which was a computer game. Then yesturday my brother, sister in law, and nephew came up and we had the present exchange. My brother liked the Harley Davidson Motor Cycle tin signs that I had gotten him. I got two Tori Amos CD’s from my nephew; a $50 Walmart gift from my grandma, my hubby gave me half of his gift card as his gift to me, and hot chocolate gift set from my uncle and his wife. Erchin got a total of $75 in Walmart gift cards from folks.

Today on the way home from mom and dad’s Erchin and I stoped at Walmart to spend our gift cards and my saved shopping monies. I got a game controller for the laptop; a wireless usb mouse for the laptop; a bath pillow set; 5 pairs of pants; a handful of eco-friendly cloth shopping bags, (so I won’t have to use plastic!); and a Frappaccino (sp?)

Not much knitting got done sorry to say. I did, however, get alot of eating done!

Happiest of New Years to You and Your’s!!!

Updates and Appoligy

I must appoligize to my group gift recipient. Yes he is often finicky about things, that is still true. Yesturday, however, I told him about re-knitting the hat so that is was “generic” nolonger girly but plain where anyone could wear it, or so it was according to my son. He said he wanted me to know that he appreciated the gift even more because it was handmade. That handmade gifts ment that someone took the time to care about you enough to make something for you! So to him I appoligize.

My family drew names for gift giving purposes this year. One of the rules was that you were not to give any gifts to anyone who’s name you didn’t draw. My mother did NOT get my name, but DID get me a gift. I have to go to her house and pick it up on either Monday or Tuesday before everyone gathers there for the holiday. She said she got me a pair of sweatpants, a pair of jeans, and a sweatshirt that has something about knitting grandmas on it. I knew my mom would get me something!

Well my son has had one particular special education teacher for the past few years. I have decided to knit her a pair of socks for Christmas, albeit they’ll be a little late. I could have them done before Christmas (possibly), but school will be out for winter break so I can’t get them to her until after the first of the year. I mentioned making them to her and she was tickled to pieces! My son helped to pick out the yarn from my stash. For an ongoing update check me out on Ravelry I’m Caffinna. I’ll post pics here when the socks get finished.

Gift Exchange Update

gift exchange hat

gift exchange hat

I reknitted the hat for the gift exchange. This time no cables, just plain ribbing then stockenette stitching at the top. Nothing fancy, nothing spectacular, just a stocking cap plain and simple. It’s loose enough that should the recipient so desire, he can wear it over his ball cap that wears nearly everywhere he goes.

ReKnitting

ReKnitting

I decided to frog the first knitted hat/beanie and the yarn, plus an additional skien, to knit a muffler scarf. Thus the gift exchange gift will end up being a pair of hand knitted mittens, a matching hand knitted hat, and a matching hand knitted muffler scarf. If he doesn’t like it then he’s SOL as far as I am concerned!

For those who live where it’s colder, I am sorry but I am a cold whiner! It’s been in the teens f with freezing drizzle, sleet, etc. here for the last three days. They have called school yesturday, today, and again for tomorrow due to the fact that many of the roads are too slick and dangerous for the  buses (and cars for that matter if you ask me).  Tomorrow we are to have southernly winds and get above freezing, 32f, so the roads have a slim (very slim) chance of improving enough for school on thursday and/or friday. Anyway, I atleast did my grocery shopping and we have enough food that I-the too scared to even think about driving in this-won’t need to get out untill it clears and I need to shake off the cabin fever that’s set in today.

Ok, I am posting some pics, overdue and I am sorry, of my knitting projects. They are on RAVELRY, but they also need to be here for those of y’all who aren’t knitters/crocheters on ravelry.

Socks

Socks

Here is the socks that I made for myself. I hadn’t made myself a pair of socks in years, not since I started making them for others! I decided that I deserved to take the time and make me a pair before moving on and finishing up the holliday knitting.

WalMart Work Gloves

WalMart Work Gloves

I made myself a pair of fingerless gauntlettes. My mother seen them and said she could use a pair of fingerless gloves to wair at work (she’s a cashier at WalMart). So I made these for her as a part of her December 3 birthday present, albeit these are late. These are 60% washable wool, 20% silk, and 20% polyester. They are “WalMart Blue” to co-ordinate with mom’s work clothes,  they are machine washable/dryable, they are soft, and they should be warm enough to suit the purpose they are intended for.

Mittens

Mittens

These are the mittens that I made for a gift exchange that I am in. The hat that I made is rather small, so I am going to attempt to remake it. The person I am making it for is rather finicky and picky and may not like it, so I told him I could give him a WalMart gift card instead if he so wanted. (He’s already said he’d rather have the gift card, so I may give these to someone else and just give him the gift card!)

Edited to add: I have decided to just reknit the hat (I am not happy with it), and knit a muffler (if I have enough yarn) and give the set to the recipient. If he doesn’t like then he’s SOL I am not giving a WalMart gift as well, why should he get two gifts?

You’ve likely heard of the online social networks of Facebook and MySpace. But have you heard of RAVELRY? Ravely, to over simplify and put it my words, is a kick but social network for knitters and crocheters. You can keep track of your projects, hooks/needles, yarns, patterns, etc. You can shair patterns, sell patterns, shair pictures of WIP’s, UFO’s, FO’s, and the like. You have to ask to join, then after waiting a bit they send you an invitation to join. If you knit and/or crochet come on over and sign up. If you already are a member of Ravely look me up I am CAFFINNA.

Still haven’t heard from the doctor about the test results. I have three curent knitting projects going–Mom’s fingerless gloves; skinny scarves, a commisioned job; and a gift for a friend. (If you want to see  the pictures, they’re over at Ravelry I’ll try to get them up here in the next week or so.) If I get the money I’ll mail dgd her presents soon.

Well have a peaceful holliday season!

Shopping in Joplin, MO

Friday I went shopping, with a group of friends, in Joplin, MO. I was able to get my brother, who’s name I drew in the family name draw, his present. I got a present for my youngest son to give nephew’s girlfriend Stacey, who’s name he drew, for Christmas. I got my youngest son a cool hip tee shirt for Christmas. I got a ceramic Christmas tree ornament of Holstein cow wearing antlers for my dad who collects the cows. I got myself a couple double purpose pajama/outer wear pants from Old Navy; pajamas, and a tee shirt from another store; sweat pants and a free pair of limited edition underwear from Victoria’s Secret for me.

I am still waiting to get the results of my papsmear done the first of the month. Doctor found some sucpious bleeding and well I am anxious as to what that implies.

That’s all for now. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
