I did fine at the LYS yesterday, at least until time to eat lunch. I had three of those stick on pads they advertise as cordless heating pads (yes, they do indeed work!) and sat in high backed chair. Then when it was time to eat, we moved into the kitchen and I made a mistake and sat down in a low backed chair. By bedtime I was hurting big-time!
I found out, however, that even if the doctor does call something in for me I cannot get it. I have used all of my prescriptions up for the month and just don’t have the money to pay for anything. I suppose I could ask my folks, but they’ve helped so much, and they are buying Erchin’s class ring for him as a gift, I’ll just have to find a way to make do without it. I did, and yes I know it’s wrong but desperate measures and all that, I used one of my DH’s prescription pain patches. I will at least get a little relief for a couple of days from the pain and can get some laundry done.
At the LYS they didn’t have any metal dbl pt needles in size 6. Since I knit differently on wooden dbl pts than I do with the metal ones and I couldn’t afford to get two sets of wooden dbl pts, I wasn’t sure what to do. Fran, LYS owner, loaned me a set and a half (7) size 6 dbl pt needles. Now I can do both sleeves of my Eiffel separately at the same time.
I have started on the sleeves of my Eiffel sweater, and have 5-6 inches of both sleeves done so far. I work one repeat of the pattern on a sleeve, then I work that repeat on the other sleeve, and so on like that. This way each sleeve is done with same tension at about the same places threw-out.
My Eiffel isn’t coming out quite as light and lacy as the one in the picture of the designer’s, but that’s just the way I want it! If I wore something as lacy and seductive looking as the Eiffel pictured, it might require a divorce! Even if it didn’t, it just isn’t the look I want. Maybe 20 years ago I would have been okay with it, but it isn’t the me I am now.
I am thinking of possibly using the coordinating hand-painted yarn in a different way on my Eiffel sweater. Instead of using it for cords in place of the ribbons, I am thinking of using it as trim at the neckline. Then also going back and adding a small row (maybe two) of crocheted trim edging at the sleeve cuffs and waistline of the sweater. Then pulling some of the other wonderful colors from the hand-painted yarn, and using actual ribbon for the ties. I’ll let you know what I end up doing.
Glad to know the patch works, I have some and the next time my back goes out I will use them.
Pain. I know pain. Right now it is living and writhing in my knee. I hope your back is better soon!
