Sweedish / Huck Weaving

Here’s a poorly lit pic of what I have working on as of late.  It is the Sweedish/Huck Weaving afghan for brother and his girlfriend’s Christmas gift. It appears that there is a slight chance if my actualy getting to get it finished by time gifts are to be opened next friday morning!

I have been rather extremely deliquent at keeping in touch and I am sorry. Since I have started keep a hard copy journal I forget to blog. No  excuse, but in a nut shell that’s the truth behind my absence.

I am nearly done with mother’s lace stole for Christmas. It’s “Concerto” so if you’re on Ravelry you can look it up. I’ll post a pic of Mom’s as soon as it’s done and blocked.

I am only about half done with my brother’s Sweedish/Huck Weaving Afghan. As soon as I am done with Mom’s I have got to get cracking on this afghan again.

My nephew’s gift is completely store bought. It’s a tee shirt and an aftershave/cologne set. I don’t see him very often so an IOU knitted gift would be beyond lame here for him!

My Dad will get a funky knitted hat IOU with a Summer Sausage/Cheese gift package.

more tomorrow,  i swear!

shrug, post to follow

Shawls, Stoles, and Lace

I have the crocheted lace shawl still going. Since I have had it for nearly 20 yrs and not finished it yet, I am obviously in no hurry to finish it. (I have decided not to lend it out before I have worn it myself!)

I have a stole begun in yellow peruvian wool for myself as a part of a KAL. Also as a part of the same KAL, I have another stole begun in Hot Rod Heather out of Shadow lace weight from Knit Picks for my Mom’s birthday in December. (SHHH! Don’t tell her!) If she wears it and not just treasures it storing it safely away in drawer taken out only to be shown off, then I’ll make her the “Peggy’s Shawl” since her name is in fact Peggy.  She’s been a little down since I haven’t made her anything since the kitchen dish cloths, and not too quiet about if prompted in the slightest.  {But then she has every right to be upset she is my mom and I’ve neglected her knittingwise!}

My youngest son will be moving out before long. I have very mixed feelings about it! It is what’s best for him, but still the mixed feelings. I know, it’s a mom thing.

I admit, I am addicted to lace. I am powerless over lace and I have absolutely no desire to control or stop it in any way! 12 steps, heck I’ll drive the 13 miles to the yarn shop for more yarn to make more lace first!

Untill the next time……………………………………………………………stay well my friends, and other folks.

18 Years Old and Back Again!

I was digging threw my stash of needles in their box where they were stored and found a bag. In this bag was my 18 yr old crocheted shawl that was still unfinished. I have gotten it back out and started back to work on it. The older portion (from 18 yrs ago) is nicotine stained as I smoked back then. Also the tension in the newer part, as is the hook size, is looser/bigger.  All-in-all I dug it back out and have begun attempting to finish it. I didn’t use a pattern, and have changed stitch patterns all on a whim and change of moods. I’d like to keep working atleast until I have used up the thread that I have recently bought, but who knows when I’ll actually finish it! {I do have to come to atleast a stopping point within the next week as I promised a friend she could barrow it.}

18 yrs and still going!

18 yrs and still going!

I have decided to try and finish up a few ufo’s as I knit some new stuff. I am knitting on a simple noro shawl/shawlette with beads. I am letting the beauty of the yarn do the talking. The beads aren’t seen unless the light catches them, then they sparkle! That’s just the effect I wanted to acheive with the beads.
ignore the putz in the back, look at the shawl!

ignore the putz in the back, look at the shawl!

I had been have a reaccuring dream that a young friend of mine was pregnant for the last month and a half. I asked her last night if she was and she said yes, about 7 weeks along. Ah, I foresee me making baby presents in the fairly near future!
Well there’s no point in making excuses for the time away, so I won’t. I’ll be back as I can and rember to get back by here.

clues 1 & 2 done!

clues 1 & 2 done!

This is the current lace project that I am working on. I downloaded the pattern free on Ravelry. It is called “The Vernal Equinox Shawl Surprise” . It was originally a mystery KAL and revealed in clue form until you had the entire pattern. Now, however, you can download the pattern in it’s entirety which is just what I did last night. As the caption says, I have clues one and two done. I am using jaggerspun’s zypher wool-silk yarn in the colorway of “Blue Ice” . I have had this yarn for nearly three years at the least! I have started and stopped atleast two shawls with it. I have finally found the right project for this yarn. The color reminds me both of the melting ice and of the color of these little spring flowers that I cannot remember the name of (I know, I sound stupid).

I have also just joined two more groups on yahoo and both of them are lace shawl/stole kal groups. They aren’t set up for  any specific project, but within the groups they have kal’s for specific projects. One group is lead by a lace shawl/stole designer and it’s his designs we have kal with.  Anyway, I have (as you can probably figure out) finally decided to embrace the lace!

On the personal home front: my group councelor is quiting at the end of this coming week. She is moving to another state. My therapist, at the same place as the group councelor, is also leaving but is doind so for a better paying job. (Who can realy blame her.) So needless to say I am dealing with some abandoment issues at the moment.

Kiddo is likely going to be moving in January. The details of this are still being worked/felt out. Until things are a bit more concrete in nature, I won’t be saying alot more than this cryptic couple of lines.

My 68 year old mother  is having dificulties working with Instant Messenger. My 87 year old grandmother who, until last night, didn’t realize she could get online (still doesn’t know what to do online) talked with me on IM’s for nearly an hour last night!  YOU  GO  GRANDMA!!!!!

Well that’s about it for now. I didn’t post daily, or weekly, but it wasn’t as long of a dry spell as before!

All is Well, and so on!

Well it’s Sunday evening. Last friday morning I had my colonoscopy. Everything is fine, there wasn’t even any notable radiation damage, it’s seems all is well. My dad, however, was the one with me and he didn’t ask any additional questions beyond what the doctor volunteered. The “and so on” is the part that if all is as it should be, why do I have the digestive problems that I have?

I am still knitting on my graduated scarf. I promise, I’ll post a pic when it’s done.

Long Time Waiting

I have been away from blogging along time I know. I think I should be more regular about posting. But then I also wonder if anyone realy pays attention or reads my blog! Yes, I am being whiney about it and making excuses about not having posted in such a long time. I am also being honest about how I feel.

I have a huge number of UFO’s knitting-wise. But at the moment I am working on a graduated scarf. (I’ll explain at another time when I post a pic, and no I won’t wait a long time to do it.) I have a sweater that is nearly done, but has had to put on the back burner for a couple of weeks. (See below.) My striped sweater is hiding in a bag in the closet, out of sight out of mind. The old ball diagnal sweater has to have the entire left sleeve ripped out and redone, so yes it also sits over in the closet. There are likely others, but those are the most recent ones.

I had my annual womanly checkup and paps smear and mamogram. The doctor ordered a colonoscopy because of family histery, personal risk factors, and because I am at higher risk because I have had pelvic floor radiation. The colonoscopy is this friday morning 9 am CST USA. I need an easy knitting pattern, that isn’t boring, but also isn’t too complicated. I have chose to do a graduated scarf in the Subtle Ribbing Pattern. Anyway, please keep me (if anyone realy reads this) in your thoaghts and prayers.

More After the Storms

I wanted to post about last weekend’s family reunion. I wanted bemoan about my last baby, almost 19, graduating high school. I wanted to catch y’all up but they just flashed a picture of the weather radar on the tv for the upcoming weather report on tv. We have thunder storms coming. They are close enough that I am going to have to go ahead and get off now and post later. I’ll post later tonight if the weather clears, tomorrow if it’s too late.

For Your Enjoyment
